From garment factories to the Wynwood Walls
Wynwood has been a garment district since the 1920s, and by 1951 its 251 garment factories employed more than 50,000 people. In 2009 developer Tony Goldman turned six warehouses on a 1.65-acre site into the Wynwood Walls, and the street art that followed made Wynwood one of the most visited parts of Miami. Since 2013 a business improvement district has represented more than 400 property owners across the 50-block arts district.
