Local conditions
A fast-growing city between two national parks
Homestead had 80,737 residents at the 2020 census, up from 31,909 in 2000, and calls itself the gateway to Everglades and Biscayne national parks. Much of that growth is new subdivisions on former farmland at the edge of the Redland, the farm district of winter vegetables, tropical fruit and nurseries around the city.
The city has been rebuilt before. Hurricane Andrew's winds of roughly 165 miles per hour took out nearly every building in Homestead on August 24, 1992, when about 30,000 people lived there. Much of today's housing was rebuilt or built new after the storm, and far more went up after 2000, so many Homestead systems are on their first or second replacement and were installed to newer codes.
Outside town, refrigeration matters as much as comfort. Packing houses, produce stands and nurseries in the Redland run walk-in coolers through the harvest season, and a cooler that fails mid-harvest costs a grower more than the repair ever will.

Getting to you
Down the Turnpike from the service office
Our service office on SW 117th Ave is the closer of our two offices to Homestead, with the Turnpike and US 1 both running straight south to the city. That puts Homestead and Florida City on the same daily routes as Cutler Bay and Princeton rather than on a long one-off trip.
Farm and nursery calls in the Redland are often down long private drives, so give dispatch the gate or access details when you call and the technician can head straight to the equipment.

FAQ
Questions from Homestead customers
Yes. Walk-in coolers and freezers for packing houses, produce stands and nurseries are part of our refrigeration work, including after-hours calls during harvest.
Rarely, but it happens. Snow flurries were reported at Homestead Air Force Base on January 20, 1977, the farthest south ever reported in the lower 48 states, and a heat pump covers the occasional cold night without a separate furnace.
Yes. A system that age is well past a typical South Florida service life. Have it inspected before summer so a replacement can be planned instead of rushed in a heat wave.
Yes. Florida City borders Homestead to the south and is covered on the same routes from our SW 117th Ave office.
