Local conditions

Long-settled neighborhoods, one young city

Miami Gardens incorporated on May 13, 2003, joining long-established neighborhoods such as Andover, Bunche Park, Carol City, Lake Lucerne, Norland, Opa-locka North and Scott Lake into one city. It had 111,640 residents and 30,946 households at the 2020 census on about 19 square miles, and it is home to Hard Rock Stadium, which opened in 1987 and hosted World Cup matches in 2026.

Most of the housing is single-family concrete block from the decades before incorporation, much of it with its original layout: an air handler in a hall closet or the garage, duct in a low attic and a condenser beside the house. When those systems are replaced, the duct is often the weak link, and a new high-efficiency unit hooked to leaky, undersized duct will not cool the way its label promises.

Event days at the stadium change traffic on the main roads, and the restaurants and caterers feeding those crowds run their walk-ins and ice machines hardest on exactly those days, which is when a tired compressor tends to give out.

Getting to you

Reaching Miami Gardens from Medley

Miami Gardens sits north of Hialeah and Miami Lakes, and technicians from the NW 72nd Ave head office reach it by the Palmetto Expressway or the Turnpike. The city's northern edge at NW 215th Street is also the Broward County line, so a call from just across it in Miramar rides the same route.

On stadium event days dispatch routes around the crowded roads near the stadium and tells you on the call if that moves an arrival time.
